Terms of Use

These terms govern your use of the RheoByte mobile application ("the App"). By installing or using the App, you agree to them. RheoByte is a privacy-first data usage tracker that runs entirely on your device.
1. License
RheoByte grants you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use the App on devices you own or control, for your own personal, non-commercial use, subject to these terms and the terms of the app store you obtained it from.
2. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- copy, modify, distribute, sell, or lease any part of the App;
- reverse-engineer or attempt to extract the source code, except where the law expressly permits;
- use the App in any unlawful manner or for any unlawful purpose; or
- interfere with or disrupt the integrity or performance of the App or your device.
3. Permissions
The App requires Android's Usage Access permission to read how much data each app has used, and optionally requests notification permission if you set a data limit. You may grant or revoke these permissions at any time in your device settings; revoking Usage Access will prevent the App from displaying usage data.
4. Your data
RheoByte processes your usage information entirely on your device and does not transmit it anywhere. You are responsible for your device and for any data stored locally by the App. For details, see our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these terms.
5. No warranty
The App is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including but not limited to fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement. Data usage figures are derived from your operating system's counters and are provided for informational purposes only — they may differ from the figures your carrier uses for billing. Do not rely on the App as the sole basis for billing or financial decisions.
6. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, RheoByte and its developer shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, arising out of or relating to your use of, or inability to use, the App — including any charges from your carrier.
7. Changes to the App and terms
We may update, modify, or discontinue the App or these terms at any time. When we change these terms, we will update the "last updated" date above. Continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
8. Termination
These terms apply until terminated. Your license ends automatically if you fail to comply with them, or when you uninstall the App. You may stop using the App at any time by uninstalling it.
